Our last few days in Sweden we spend in Stockholm. Sunday morning, November 21st 2021, around 10:30 a.m. after another trip on the night train in Stockholm we arrived at a couch surfers place. Mikaela welcomed us very warmly in her small and very comfortable apartment. What we didn’t know – she has a hangover named Sam. I thought, okay … the next three days will be interesting, as I’m really allergic to cats. But the concern was unfounded as I didn’t seem to be allergic to him.
Since Mikaela had already agreed to go swimming with a friend and of course had to work on weekdays, we only saw her in the evening, but we still had a very good time with her. During the day we always met Emma and Siena, who happened to be in Stockholm at the same time as us.
Together with them we went to an all-you-can-eat restaurant, to a rather disappointing Christmas market, ice-skating (which was very funny), to different cafes, strolled around and we got lost in Stockholm every now and then, since it’s a pretty confusing city.
The city has its charm especially in the dark around Christmastime. The many lights and at the same time the relatively empty streets create an unbelievable atmosphere and you quickly forget the cold, which at least I noticed more in Stockholm than in Kiruna, where it was a few degrees colder.
Unfortunately, we also had to deal with problems such as our trip back home, which almost had to be changed due to the new corona regulations.
After three beautiful days and a very delicious meal that we cooked together with Mikaela yesterday evening, today we have been on the train back home via Copenhagen, Hamburg and Berlin since 6 a.m.
I face our return journey, I think Lina feels the same way, with mixed feelings. On the one hand I am very happy to see Eddy, my family and friends again soon, on the other hand I will especially miss the much more relaxed corona situation in Sweden. It will also be strange at first to see the backpack I have lived out of for the last three months standing in the corner. Surprisingly, I got used to this simple way of traveling really quickly and I’m always happy when I’ve managed to stow all my „belongings“ in my backpack.
Unfortunately, my work in Austria has been postponed for now, because they have no work for me due to cancellations at the beginning of December, so I will initially spend the next few weeks selling Christmas trees, but I really hope that I can still go to Ramsau at least over Christmas.
But now I’m coming home again and I’m looking forward to seeing you all again! Bye for now!
