Wednesday, September 5th, 2021, 10:05: We get on the train in Dresden in the direction of Leipzig Central Station. Our backpacks are heavy … very heavy … we notice that in the first five minutes of our trip. Fortunately, we can drop them off on the train.
In Leipzig we first have to convince ourselves to put the backpacks back on, then we go to the train to Magdeburg.

We are visiting our friend Doro in Magdeburg and while we wait for her to come home from school, we rest from the rigors of the journey and watch a film. In the evening we had to find out that our plan to come to Sweden didn’t quite work out because the accommodations in Ystad and Malmö were all too expensive for us. Without further ado, we rebooked the ferry and train (which luckily was still possible) and were then able to sleep reasonably well.

Thursday it goes to the city center of Magdeburg. While Lina goes bouldering, I take a look at the old town. I have to say that Magdeburg’s city center is really nice, but the few hours were enough for me visiting the city :).

Friday, September 17th, 2021, 6.47: After saying goodbye to Doro, we are sitting on the first of a total of three (actually four, if you count the ones to Magdeburg Central Station) that are supposed to bring us to Kiel. How should it be otherwise – Deutsche Bahn is late. Fortunately, the 20 minutes initially turned into only 5, so our stay in Hamburg will not be significantly longer. When we arrive in Kiel, we first try to get rid of our backpacks, which works better than we thought – thanks, DB;).

Then it’s back to a bouldering hall, where I start teaching myself at least some Swedish, while Lina boulders and keeps me company every now and then for a little break. After a short shopping for dinner and cheese as a souvenir for our first hosts, we are heading back towards the main train station – at least we try. After the bus left twice on the opposite side of the street, we somehow managed to get back to our backpacks and then to the ferry. Since our cabin was apparently forgotten to clean on the ferry, we are getting an upgrade and now have a cabin even with a window!
6.45 pm: We say goodbye to Germany!
